La pratique du biofeedback de cohérence cardiaque rencontre aujourd’hui un grand succès auprès d’un large public de professionnels. D’abord appliquée dans la prévention des maladies cardio-vasculaires, elle est de plus en plus utilisée dans les programmes de gestion du stress et de l’anxiété ainsi que dans la régulation de la réponse émotionnelle.
Le principe du biofeedback de cohérence cardiaque est basé sur l’hypothèse que la stimulation du tonus vagal, se traduisant par l’augmentation de la variabilité de la fréquence cardiaque, peut vous permettre, par un entraînement régulier, d’améliorer l’état de santé ou les performances.
En renforçant l’adaptabilité du système physiologique d’autorégulation, en particulier face aux sollicitations stressantes de la vie quotidienne, le biofeedback de cohérence cardiaque va en assurer une plus grande flexibilité pour lutter contre les pathologies somatiques et psychologiques et va permettre à l’organisme de maintenir un meilleur équilibre cardio-respiratoire et cérébral.
Plusieurs équipes dans le monde ont récemment mené des travaux cliniques sur l’intérêt de renforcer le tonus vagal par l’entraînement au biofeedback de cohérence cardiaque.
